Position Summary

The Core Laboratory in Clayton is looking for a Medical Technologist I to enhance their team. The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting various patient tests and administrative tasks that support the clinical operations within the UNC Healthcare System. This position is eligible for an evening shift differential.

Work Schedule

Evening Shift: Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose issues related to equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
  2. Participate in teams or engage in special projects and assignments.
  3. Provide training for Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as onboarding new staff members.
  4. Conduct quality control and maintain equipment in the designated laboratory.
  5. Perform routine and specialized testing procedures, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests, while observing reactions and compiling data.
  6. Prepare specimens and reagents as necessary.
  7. Communicate results to healthcare providers and consult on test outcomes.
  8. Review test results to ensure accuracy and prompt correction of any errors.
Additional Information

Education Requirements:
• A Bachelor's of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria upon hire to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of hire.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming exam eligible.

Professional Experience Requirements:
• No prior experience is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Relevant skills and abilities will be assessed during the hiring process.
