The Core Laboratory in Clayton is seeking a Medical Technologist I to become a vital part of their team. The Medical Technologist is responsible for conducting various patient tests and performing administrative duties that support the clinical operations within the UNC Healthcare System. This position qualifies for an evening shift differential.
Work ScheduleEvening Shift: Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities- Diagnoses issues related to equipment, test outcomes, specimens, and workflow.
- May engage in team projects or special assignments.
- May provide instruction to Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as training for new staff.
- Conducts quality control and maintains equipment in the designated laboratory.
- Performs routine and specialized testing procedures, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests, while observing and reporting results.
- Prepares specimens and reagents as necessary.
- Communicates test results to healthcare providers and collaborates regarding findings.
- Reviews test outcomes to ensure accuracy and timely correction of discrepancies.
Education Requirements:
● A Bachelor's of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of hire.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming exam eligible.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● No prior experience is necessary.

● Relevant skills and abilities are expected.
