Job Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for performing a variety of patient tests and administrative duties that support the clinical operations within the UNC Healthcare System. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, which are critical for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Troubleshoot issues related to laboratory equipment, test outcomes, specimens, and workflow.
2. Engage in team collaborations or undertake special projects as needed.
3. Provide training for Clinical Laboratory Science students and new staff members, serving as a technical resource.
4. Conduct quality control and maintain laboratory equipment.
5. Execute routine and specialized testing procedures, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological analyses.
6. Prepare specimens and reagents as necessary for testing.
7. Communicate test results to healthcare professionals and consult on findings.
8. Review test outcomes to ensure accuracy and prompt correction of any discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Licensure: Must achieve certification within one year of becoming eligible.
- Experience: No prior experience is required.
