Position SummaryThe Core Laboratory in Clayton is seeking a Medical Technologist I to contribute to their operations. The Medical Technologist will carry out various patient testing and administrative duties that support the clinical functions within the UNC Healthcare System. This position qualifies for an evening shift differential.
Work ScheduleEvening Shift: Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose issues related to equipment, test outcomes, specimens, and workflow.
- Participate in teams or engage in special projects and assignments.
- Provide instruction to Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as train new staff members.
- Conduct quality control and maintain equipment in the designated laboratory.
- Perform routine and specialized testing procedures, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriological tests, while monitoring tests and reactions to provide accurate data.
- Prepare specimens and reagents as required.
- Communicate results to healthcare providers and consult with them regarding test outcomes.
- Review test results to ensure accuracy and prompt correction of any errors.
Education Requirements:
• A Bachelor of Science degree is required. Candidates must meet eligibility criteria upon hire to sit for the MT exam within 12 months of employment.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• Certification must be obtained within one year of becoming eligible for the exam.
Professional Experience Requirements:
• No prior experience is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Relevant knowledge and skills in laboratory practices are essential.
