Job Summary

USA Health is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in the 67-bed inpatient pediatric unit. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our pediatric program.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the diagnosis and therapeutic management of patients under the supervision of a physician.
  • Organize and present patient data to the supervising physician(s) to include recommendations for appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic regimens.
  • Provide instructions and guidance regarding health care and medical therapy to patients, family members, and significant others.
  • Perform complete, detailed, and accurate health histories and reviews patient records.
  • Order appropriate laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies.
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments and record pertinent data in the electronic health record.
  • Formulate medical and nursing diagnoses and institute appropriate therapies or referrals of patients to appropriate healthcare facilities, agencies, physicians, or other resources in the community.
  • Plan and initiate a therapeutic regimen, including ordering drugs, medical devices, and nutrition and supportive services.
  • Interpret and analyze patient data to determine patient management and treatment.
  • Administer injections and dispense medications.
  • Create and edit documents within Cerner.
  • Prepare reports as needed.
  • Serve on various committees and Quality Improvement teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
  • Completion of an approved nurse practitioner training program or an accredited physician assistant training program as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
  • Certification as a nurse practitioner or licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within two months of employment.
