Job Summary

The L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a highly skilled Training Facilitator to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for designing, writing, delivering, and evaluating leadership development training programs, team-building sessions, and assessment debriefs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement adult learning methodologies to enhance instructional design and delivery.
  • Plan, write, evaluate, and update training programs and course content to meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders.
  • Design training objectives and assess participant progress towards meeting them, ensuring a high level of engagement and retention.
  • Maintain accurate records of curriculum, materials, and training sessions, and gather feedback to continuously improve training quality.
  • Assess training needs and effectiveness, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant training experience, with a strong background in instructional design and delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and Word, and knowledge of instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE.
  • Understanding of Bloom's taxonomy and the ability to create effective training objectives, as well as familiarity with leadership concepts and development.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong active listening skills, strategic and analytical thinking abilities, and attention to detail with solid research capabilities.
  • Leadership qualities and the confidence to provide direction, with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to problem-solve and find innovative solutions.
  • Creativity in designing engaging training materials, and a demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Analytical evaluation skills for budgeting and planning, project management skills to coordinate complex training initiatives, and certification in debriefing assessments such as DISC, MBTI, EQ-I, and 360s.
