We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Financial Associate to join our team at the University of Tennessee. The successful candidate will provide financial, human resources, and administrative support to the Business Manager and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Process fiscal transactions and prepare effort certification reports
- Validate deposits for accuracy and assist faculty with allowable purchasing on sponsored projects
- Handle collections and records for audit/inspection and monitor record/file retention
- Provide backup support for the front desk and assist with department events
- Coordinate the process and approval of all personnel hiring documents and ID numbers
- Ensure and facilitate proper I-9 compliance and renewals for visas
- Oversee payroll reconciliation and assist with faculty/staff searches as well as faculty development leave and promotion & tenure
- A high school diploma or GED with two years of experience in accounting and/or HR experience
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and excellent communication, customer service, and organization skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently, with excellent organizational and time-management skills
- An associate's degree in a field related to business, HR Management, or a degree related to the position's duties
- Experience in an academic environment, with experience hiring foreign nationals and communicating with non-native English speakers
- Human resources-specific experience related to recruiting, hiring, or employee relations
