Key Responsibilities
  • Registration and Scheduling: Register patients, collect demographic and insurance information, and schedule appointments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Insurance and Benefits: Verify patient insurance coverage, explain benefits, and collect copays and deductibles as necessary.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers, both verbally and in writing, to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve registration and scheduling issues in a timely and efficient manner, escalating complex issues to supervisor or manager as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Experience: One year of secretarial/clerical experience required; six months of hospital registration or medical office experience preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.

The Patient Access Specialist will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare providers on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask, work independently, and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information.
