Job Overview

Work Schedule

Performance hours will be provided on weekdays, with shifts ranging from early morning to evening. Shift lengths may vary from two to twelve hours, with breaks for longer shifts. Weekend availability may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples and conduct various Point of Care Testing (POCT).
  • Ensure accurate patient identification.
  • Label specimen vials correctly with patient information.
  • Determine the most effective blood draw method for each patient.
  • Transport specimens to designated laboratory sections.
  • Centrifuge blood samples as needed.
  • Work with a diverse patient population across different age groups and health conditions.
  • Adhere to Infection Control standards consistently.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and utilize Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Complete thorough training in laboratory procedures and demonstrate competency in assigned tasks.
  • Provide guidance and training as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a phlebotomy program with a minimum of 120 didactic hours.
  • Certifications: Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) in addition to Basic Life Support.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1040 hours of experience as a Phlebotomy Technician within the last three years, including at least 100 successful venipunctures and 10 skin punctures.
  • References: Two letters of recommendation required, one from a physician or supervisor familiar with the candidate's clinical skills.
