Position Overview
The Research and Development (R&D) Coordinator is pivotal in the exploration, assessment, and advancement of innovative technologies within our agricultural and specialty sectors. Helena is at the forefront of integrating precision agriculture tools, including drones and imaging technologies, for research and development initiatives.

This role is primarily field-based. The ideal candidate will possess practical field experience alongside an educational background in agriculture to enhance their applied knowledge. This position is tailored for a proficient field operator with equipment handling experience who seeks to evolve into a scientific capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establishes research studies at Helena-owned facilities and/or collaborating growers' fields.
  • Applies crop protection and production products, along with various seeds and crops across the designated territory.
  • Assesses product efficacy, performance, crop safety, yield, and quality.
  • Maintains study sites for cleanliness and prepares for field day activities.
  • Ensures the upkeep and cleanliness of Helena's R&D facilities to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Collects, inputs, and analyzes data from experiments using specialized research software.
  • Calibrates scientific and commercial equipment for accurate application.
  • Conducts maintenance on equipment, including basic repairs to small engines and spray machinery.
  • Operates light, medium, and heavy machinery for diverse agricultural tasks.
  • Prepares documentation and materials for field demonstrations and events.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in an agriculture-related discipline is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required.
  • Successful completion of a drug test and background check is necessary.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is essential for operating company vehicles.
Preferred Skills
  • Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to perform basic repairs on small engines and spray equipment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills.
Work Environment

The work environment for this position is primarily outdoors, subject to various weather conditions and outdoor elements. Employees may encounter fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and electrical risks while working around moving equipment. This role requires manual dexterity for a variety of tasks, as well as the ability to communicate, walk, stand, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
