Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Edinburg Independent School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students, promoting health education, and collaborating with school staff to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide temporary and emergency care for sick and injured students or staff according to district policy and procedures.
  • Serve as a health advocate for students, notifying parents of accidents or illnesses and securing medical care as needed.
  • Coordinate the administration of medications to students, ensuring compliance with district policies and procedures.
  • Perform screening procedures as required by state and local regulations, making referrals as necessary.
  • Develop individual health plans and emergency care plans for students with special health needs.
  • Participate in campus health and wellness education, providing health education to individuals and groups.
  • Collaborate with school staff to identify and address health-related issues, providing relevant assessment, counseling, and guidance.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Current registered nurse licensed to practice professional nursing in Texas.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services to conduct vision and hearing screening.
  • Certified by the UTRGV Border Health Office to conduct the Texas Risk Assessment for Type 2 diabetes.
  • CPR/AED Certification.
  • Two years of nursing experience recommended.
