Job Title: Substitute Teacher

We are seeking a qualified Substitute Teacher to join our team at Lowell Community Charter Public School.

Job Summary:

The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for carrying out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and performing all essential functions of a teacher in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow the teacher's written lesson plans and ensure that the goals of the plans are met.
  • Create a positive learning environment and implement effective management procedures.
  • Consult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
  • Comply with all building procedures and schedules.
  • Prepare a written summary of work completed and any special notes.
  • Uphold the student conduct code and maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Take precautions to ensure staff/student safety and provide appropriate and consistent supervision.
  • Report evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
  • Supervise non-classroom duties when assigned and accept personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
  • Develop appropriate student relationships and serve as a positive role model for others.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, required.
  • MA Department of Education Certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Second language or language acquisition background preferred.
  • Experience working with students from diverse SES backgrounds and cultures, preferred.
