Position: In-House Substitute Teacher
Employment Type: Full-Time with Benefits
Reporting To: Principals
Position Objectives: Execute the lesson plans prepared by the absent teacher and fulfill all essential teaching responsibilities in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the written lesson plans provided by the teacher
- Foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere
- Ensure that the objectives of the lesson plans are achieved
- Collaborate with the principal and/or staff to address any questions or concerns
- Follow all established building procedures and schedules
- Prepare a written summary of completed work and any relevant notes
- Implement effective classroom management strategies, maintain high expectations, and uphold the student conduct code
- Document any behavioral infractions
- Work collaboratively with fellow educators
- Adhere to acceptable use policies for technology
- Develop a solid understanding of the curriculum
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ensure the safety of staff and students
- Provide consistent supervision as required
- Report any suspected child abuse as mandated by law
- Supervise non-classroom duties when assigned
- Take personal responsibility for decisions and actions
- Build positive relationships with students and serve as a role model
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution is required
- MA Department of Education Certification is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Background in a second language or language acquisition is preferred
- Experience working with students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures is preferred
