Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Trauma Operating Room team at the University of Maryland Medical System. As a key member of our perioperative services team, you will be responsible for managing the Surgical Support and equipment technicians in the Trauma Operating Room, General Operating Room, and Endoscopy Labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and supervise the assigned Surgical Support Technicians and Equipment Technicians, including performance appraisals, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Develop and implement continuing education initiatives and onboarding programs to support staff development.
  • Provide overall supervision, training, and evaluation of staff in accordance with system and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Interview and recommend hiring of staff, conduct annual performance evaluations, and implement disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Promote professional development of staff and ensure policies and procedures are understood and followed.
  • Act as a liaison with nursing, quality management, and other hospital departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Participate in and lead discussions on purchasing needs, quality results, and patient feedback to improve quality of care and service.
  • Take a proactive approach to addressing potential problems with patient management and equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with leadership on long- and short-term planning and facilitate change within the department/unit to meet organizational goals.
Requirements
  • Current License as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland.
  • Operating room experience of at least 2 years.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • CNOR and prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Basic Life support required.
