Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and mission-aligned Middle School Science Teacher to join our team. As a Middle School Science Teacher, you will be responsible for developing culturally-relevant and inquiry-based curriculum, planning interactive lessons, and assessing student growth. You will also collaborate with teams to learn with and from each other, and align instruction to the needs of your students.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally-relevant and inquiry-based curriculum for middle school science students
  • Plan and deliver interactive lessons that promote student engagement and demonstration of learning
  • Assess and accelerate student growth through data-driven practices
  • Create an inclusive environment that fosters self-advocacy and promotes student voice
  • Collaborate with teams to learn with and from each other, and align instruction to the needs of your students
  • Analyze and study student work to identify trends and misconceptions
  • Monitor student academic and social-emotional growth data to inform instruction
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families, including actionable feedback
  • Showcase student achievement through exhibitions, publications, and other celebrations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid New York State Certification
  • Proven track record of planning lessons with clear learning objectives and assessment strategies
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated content knowledge, including experience planning lessons aligned with New York State Next Generation State Standards
  • Demonstrated success in tailoring instruction to the needs of diverse learners
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals
  • Experience working with educational technology
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
