Job Summary

The Payroll Supervisor at the Los Angeles LGBT Center plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll activities for the organization. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Payroll Supervisor oversees the accurate and timely payroll processing for our workforce, compliance with federal and state regulations, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including data entry, verification, processing, and distribution of payroll for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholding, wage garnishments, and employment laws.
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to payroll processing.
  • Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual reports, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with tax obligations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in payroll processing and team management, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare environment.
  • Strong background managing ADP Payroll and reporting systems.
  • Minimum education of a high school diploma or GED. A bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields is a plus.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent certification a plus.
  • Working knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, particularly in the state of California.
  • Proficiency in payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
