Position Overview:

The role of Vice President of Human Resources is pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of our institution. This position is primarily focused on overseeing the management of employee benefits and compensation frameworks, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations while preparing necessary documentation.
  • Provide strategic insights and participate actively in negotiations and administration of labor agreements.
  • Oversee the salary administration for non-bargaining staff members.
  • Design and implement educational programs to inform employees about their benefits.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related discipline is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in managing benefits programs, ideally within a higher education context.
  • Experience in administering compensation programs for both exempt and non-exempt personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work autonomously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must possess a comprehensive understanding of the implications of benefits and compensation adjustments.
  • Background checks will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree and/or HR certification (e.g., SHRM) is highly desirable.
  • 7+ years of comprehensive HR experience, including labor relations and policy development.
  • Financial literacy with a strong grasp of the financial impacts of HR initiatives.
  • Proven ability to align HR strategies with organizational objectives.
  • Experience in a unionized higher education setting, with a solid understanding of tenure systems and shared governance.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and their administration.
  • Ability to integrate innovative HR technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
