The primary responsibilities include serving as a liaison between patients and medical staff. Key duties involve:

  • Scheduling and rescheduling appointments.
  • Answering phone calls and addressing patient inquiries.

Experience in a medical office setting is preferred. The role may require working irregular hours.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20, and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment are required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a medical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a healthcare environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

JOB DUTIES:
This list may not include all of the duties assigned:

  • Demonstrating the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments.
  • Providing check-in processes for patients.
  • Verifying and updating necessary demographic information.
  • Maintaining provider schedules and ensuring a neat and orderly work and lobby area.
  • Maintaining relevant office supplies for department effectiveness.
  • Distributing mail to appropriate staff members.
  • Scheduling referral visits, tests, labs, and appointments as requested.
  • Ensuring patients complete all necessary paperwork prior to their appointment.
  • Processing payments, including co-payments and account balances.
  • Maintaining and balancing the payment drawer at the end of the day.
  • Entering adult history forms into the electronic medical record.
  • Preparing patient charts for check-in for office visits and labs.
  • Assisting patients to exam rooms and cleaning exam rooms after appointments.
