Job Summary

The Field Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in the successful completion of day-to-day union payroll operations, ensuring employees are paid timely and accurately, and that payroll is allocated to the correct projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and enter daily timesheets for craft personnel, ensuring proper time is entered to the correct job and phase codes.
  • Calculate travel policies and assist project teams and onsite project coordinators in preparing the payroll portion of the project.
  • Communicate with craft personnel regarding payroll issues and provide ongoing support with questions and concerns.
  • Train new project coordinators and act as a Point of Contact for regional and national projects.
  • Back-up for Onsite Project Coordinators, including vacation coverage and other absences.
  • Process early pay deposits, labor hour corrections, and transfers as necessary to ensure accurate project and job coding.
  • Set up new craft employees and process rehire employees, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Collaborate with Labor Relations regarding contract questions, craft wage rates, and other payroll-related matters.
  • Review and understand Union contract language to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Requirements
  • An Associate's degree in a business-related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Two or more years of payroll process experience, preferably in union payroll, is required.
  • Intermediate Microsoft O365 skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, with a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong math skills and proven ability to work in a confidential setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and capacity to quickly learn new concepts.
  • A valid driver's license may be required, and individuals in this role may be subject to an annual Motor Vehicle Records check.
