Resident Instructor

Community Residences is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities.
Job SummaryThe Resident Instructor will be responsible for creating a nurturing and positive learning environment, developing strategies to help clients cope with daily living situations, and facilitating independent performance in various areas. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with individuals at various ability levels.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized plans of care to meet the unique needs of each client
- Provide support and guidance in daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household management
- Assist clients in developing life skills, such as communication, socialization, and independence
- Monitor and report any changes in client behavior or medical status to the supervisor or program coordinator
- Administer medication to clients as prescribed, in accordance with agency policy and regulatory standards
- Participate in training opportunities to maintain required certifications and stay up-to-date on best practices in the field
- Assist with household management, including meal preparation, cleaning, and maintenance
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments and community outings
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and community members
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- At least two years of experience in human services, preferably in a residential setting
- Valid CT driver's license and good driving record required
- Ability to lift and transfer 70-75 pounds
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with individuals at various ability levels
Fri 2PM-10PM, Sun 3PM-11PM, Tues 8AM-10:30AM, Sat 7AM-3PM
