Overview:

Penguin Young Readers is seeking a dedicated Publishing Assistant to support the Publishing Office. This position presents an excellent opportunity to gain insights into the publishing sector and the broader market landscape. Reporting to the Assistant Directors of Publishing, the role involves collaboration with various teams, including marketing, publicity, sales, and editorial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate regular sales and competitive analysis reports to share insights across departments, including sales, marketing, and editorial.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the publishing office and brand department, which encompasses organizing virtual meetings, sourcing materials, and managing hospitality for new hires and authors.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets for meetings, including business reviews and divisional gatherings.
  • Offer routine support in areas such as licensing, brand management, and title metadata.
  • Assist with various special projects and research initiatives, including updates to editorial directories and deep dives into industry trends.
  • Handle physical product samples from licensing partners.
  • Support internal events such as author visits and guest speaker sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Interest in the business aspects of publishing and analytical tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to embrace new challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for children's literature.
  • Awareness of industry trends and topics.
  • Numerical aptitude.

Compensation:

The salary for this role is $48,000, with eligibility for annual profit awards or bonuses based on company performance.
