At DK, a division of Penguin Random House, we are seeking an Inventory & Operations Associate Manager to become a vital part of our agile team. The primary objective is to ensure the optimal quantity of books is printed and delivered on schedule, playing a crucial role in achieving DK's operational goals. Additionally, this role is key in making sure our beautifully crafted and informative books reach and inspire readers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee inventory management for DK, which includes approximately 3,000 active titles.
- Lead the print decision-making process and ensure follow-through.
- Identify frontlist and backlist titles that require print assessments.
- Analyze data to recommend ideal print quantities and schedules.
- Input print quantities and delivery timelines into the production system.
- Prepare agendas for weekly print decision meetings.
- Ensure profit margins meet established standards.
- Maintain production schedules and monitor delivery timelines.
- Assist with the overstock management process.
- Act as the primary liaison with the DK Production team based in London.
- Serve as the main contact for DK US sales regarding inventory and scheduling inquiries.
- Provide backup support to the DK Operations Coordinator for warehouse-related tasks.
About You:
- You are exceptionally organized, capable of managing regular processes while addressing urgent issues that require quick resolutions.
- You are eager to learn; understanding that effective inventory decisions stem from various business factors.
- You are adaptable; recognizing that tools and processes may evolve over time.
- You are proactive, seeking solutions and supporting your team members to accomplish tasks.
- You are a team player, collaborating effectively with US sales, UK production, US logistics, and stock control teams.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Excel, including experience with VLOOKUP functions.
- Strong communication skills, ensuring clear and focused interactions to manage numerous inquiries.
- Experience in sales analytics and/or finance is advantageous, as you will evaluate P&Ls and other inventory-related KPIs.
- Familiarity with the book publishing industry is a plus, but the ability to apply prior experience to this sector is also valued.
