Job Title: IT Systems Manager

At Ocean State Job Lot, we are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Manager to join our team. As a key member of our technical operations team, you will be responsible for providing business system analysis and support for multiple applications used by core operations departments throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Technical Guidance: Offer oversight and guidance to Application Support Analysts to ensure seamless technical support and resolution of issues.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Act as a subject matter expert of assigned applications for all internal business partners, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
  • Application Configuration: Update application configuration as needed to meet business requirements, ensuring optimal system performance and efficiency.
  • Security and Access: Oversee application user roles and security, ensuring that access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
  • Application Health and Performance: Monitor application health and performance, identifying and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Vendor and Consultant Management: Interface directly with software vendors and consultants for development and support, ensuring that technical requirements are met and issues are resolved efficiently.
  • User Support and Training: Consult directly with users to assess their needs and create strategies to improve application or business workflow, providing end-user and technical training as needed.
  • Status and Alignment Meetings: Facilitate regular status and alignment meetings with business leaders and stakeholders to ensure that technical initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Base: Provide oversight and guidance in creating knowledge base documentation and training materials for End User Support, ensuring that technical information is readily available and accessible.
  • Technical Documentation: Create technical documentation for internal department consumption, ensuring that technical information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Business Requirements and Documentation: Assist the business in developing business requirements and creating technical and functional documentation, ensuring that technical initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
  • Project Team Leadership: As needed, serve as leader or member of project teams, providing technical expertise and leadership to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Proactively adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Remote Work: Effectively utilize virtual means to communicate efficiently and work independently under remote conditions as applicable.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Experience: 3 or more years of experience providing oversight and guidance related to IT systems is preferred.
  • Prior Experience: Prior business application technical support experience is preferred.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience leading and working on project teams is preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience supporting mission-critical IT applications is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge in the following areas is preferred: Windows desktop and server operating system, performing routine support of web-based applications (i.e., SaaS), proficient in Microsoft Office and Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets), and familiarity with using Smartsheets for project management.
Work Environment:
  • Work Environment: Works primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard potential.
  • Physical Demands: Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.

  • Hybrid Work: Work may be completed outside of the company locations with Leader's approval. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. While working remotely, the role will be expected to complete all work (e.g., all computer hardware and software, including audio and video capabilities for virtual meetings; and reliable Internet connection with ability to access the Google platform for virtual meetings and applications used for work).
