Mobile Healthcare Nurse

Position Overview:
The Mobile Healthcare Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care as an integral member of the healthcare team, focusing on patient-centered care and advocating for patient safety.

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is a network of over 700 public health professionals dedicated to enhancing health outcomes for the residents of Harris County, the third most populous county in the United States. HCPH offers a variety of services, including medical and dental care, community programs, and health education for approximately 2.3 million individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer age-appropriate immunizations and remain informed about CDC vaccine schedule updates, assisting the nursing team in providing vaccinations and serving as a vaccination coordinator alternate for the Vaccine for Children's (VFC) Program.
- Collaborate with medical providers to assist in physical examinations and medical procedures, dispense prescribed medications according to regulations, and respond to emergency medical situations.
- Conduct patient screenings, including drawing blood, testing urine, and recording vital signs.
- Review and prioritize laboratory results, ensuring that abnormal values are documented in the electronic medical record (EMR) system and flagged for medical provider review.
- Facilitate patient flow during clinic visits, discharge patients according to care plans, and provide appropriate patient education.
- Communicate laboratory results to patients and their families, offering individualized health education and counseling.
- Manage medical inventory, ensuring the clinic is adequately stocked with vaccines and medications.
- Supervise licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and unlicensed personnel, providing guidance and oversight as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum of one year as a Registered Nurse in an outpatient clinical setting.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure in Texas, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and a valid Driver's License.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Record Systems.
- Knowledge of current CDC immunization recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Work Environment:
- This position operates in a professional clinic environment and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility in work hours may be required, including occasional weekends.
