About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mobility Technician to join our team at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. As a Mobility Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients by providing exceptional mobility support and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clinical staff and members of the interprofessional healthcare team in providing patient mobility and care.
  • Perform delegated activities, including patient mobility, infection control processes, and basic clerical functions.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care per guidelines established by the department to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.
  • Collaborate with the department nursing staff and physicians to provide assistance to patients in practicing post-surgical or strengthening exercises or functional activities.
  • Initiate contributions towards improvement of department scores for turnover/retention/employee satisfaction on unit-based scorecard.
  • Follows the patient and family-centered care standards and provides direct patient care as appropriate.
  • Assists with delegated treatment plan activities, including patient mobility, transporting patients to and from treatment areas, and assisting patients in and out of bed.
  • Plans and organizes materials and supplies in the appropriate work areas prior to patient arrival.
  • Assists with equipment inspection, maintenance, and storage, and supply procurement.
  • Role models behaviors and skills, through peer-to-peer accountability, towards improving department score for patient satisfaction on unit-based scorecard.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • One year Patient Care Assistant/Nursing Assistant work experience in an acute care hospital, long-term acute care hospital, or equivalent.
  • Six months therapy experience, e.g. PT/OT/Rehab Tech.
  • Nursing student who has completed first clinical rotation.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Displays strong time management skills and adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision.
