About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist/Engineer to join our Materials Design and Optimization Division at Penn State University. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing innovative materials, systems, and technologies that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize accepted methods and techniques to assist with the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical engineering products, systems, and subsystems.
  • Contribute data/findings for use in technical reports, documents, or oral/written presentations.
  • Interact in a collaborative manner with other team members, engineers, and scientists to accomplish organizational goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline.
  • Strong understanding of basic engineering principles and ability to apply them to real-world problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Active government security clearance.
  • Experience with computational design and analysis tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, NX, Solidworks, and Matlab.
  • Materials process development and optimization.
  • Materials selection, process optimization, and hands-on prototype skills.
  • Mechanical testing, data analysis, and nondestructive inspection.
