REGISTERED NURSE
NURSE RESIDENCY UNIT (NRU)
The 20-bed Nurse Residency Unit (NRU) serves as the foundation of the Med/Surg Nurse Residency Program at Piedmont Athens Regional. This unit supports seven medical/surgical units by facilitating the onboarding of three cohorts of new graduate nurses annually.
New graduate nurses begin their orientation on this specialized unit, guided by experienced preceptors, ensuring they acquire a robust clinical foundation before transitioning to their designated home units.
The Nurse Residency Unit fosters a secure learning environment aimed at cultivating competent and highly-skilled nursing professionals. Our dedicated preceptors, leadership team, and Nurse Residency Coordinator offer exceptional support to nurse residents throughout their orientation and transition into practice.
Within the state-of-the-art Main Tower, NRU nurses deliver high-quality nursing care to acute care patients, employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
They operate within the framework of the organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability.
The NRU nurse is accountable for upholding standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The staff nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients across the lifespan, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
They function within the organization's policies and procedures, showcasing professional growth and accountability.
The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License
BLS certification required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
For PRN positions:
One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
