Objective:

This position will collaborate with fellow members of the technical innovation team to create groundbreaking product and service offerings. With a foundational understanding of mechanical systems and testing apparatus, this role is essential in exploring, researching, and developing new technologies that align with our business vision and strategy. The individual in this role will significantly contribute to the future success of the organization. Specifically, the responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating critical processes to enable technical exploration and assessment.
  • Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that work outputs and reporting align with business objectives.

  • Demonstrating a willingness to learn about mechanical, electrical, and software systems to aid in the testing and development of new products.
  • Documenting and reporting work comprehensively to enable reproducibility and data-driven conclusions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the Innovation Pipeline through testing, documentation, sample building, and the design and construction of testing equipment.
  • Conducting scientific and technological evaluations to enhance knowledge in targeted areas aligned with the organizational vision. Responsibilities include testing, documentation, and research under the supervision of R&D engineers; understanding current codes, standards, and testing methodologies to evaluate prototype products; and collaborating with R&D engineers to develop testing methods and tools for new product evaluation.
  • Assisting in the assembly and support of in-field and off-site evaluations of prototype products, which may involve coordinating with participants for installation or troubleshooting, under the guidance of R&D engineers.

Performance Metrics:

  • Achievement of key project milestones.
  • Quality and quantity of technical documentation.
  • Support provided to R&D Engineering Staff and adjacent team members.
  • Compliance with expense budgets.

Qualifications:

  • 2-year Associate degree in a technical discipline or a high school diploma with 2 years of hands-on product evaluation experience.
  • A positive attitude and a readiness to assist multiple partners in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • A basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, along with proficiency in computer software (Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with control software (PLC, Raspberry Pi, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with a diverse, multi-functional team.
  • Capability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on potential impact.
