Job Overview

The Scientific Division at RTA US is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support one of the largest clinical laboratory organizations in the United States. This role involves working in a dynamic, production-oriented, high-volume setting, playing a crucial role in clinical laboratory operations to assist professional laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and categorize clinical laboratory specimens
  • Prepare specimens for testing and evaluation
  • Prepare reagents and/or media within the department
  • Conduct laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing additional labels, and recording data (temperature logs)
  • Manage specimen storage and retrieval
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control duties as assigned
  • Prepare specimens at workstations for analysis
    • Build worklists, aliquot specimens into sample containers, check specimens for clots and fibrin, perform inoculation, and prepare slides
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is functioning correctly and carry out minor maintenance
  • Locate missing samples and resolve pending lists
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Change gas cylinders and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests
  • Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety regulations
  • Decontaminate work areas and dispose of biohazardous materials

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Preferred coursework in math and science
  • Medical assistant training is advantageous
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Able to accurately identify specimens

Required Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities for optimal workstation efficiency
  • Capacity to retain information once learned
  • Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with coworkers and customers
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Basic computer skills and data entry proficiency
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Additional Information:

  • Compensation: $18-$20/hr
  • Work Schedule: Weekends Only, Saturdays and Sundays 6 AM - 6 PM
