We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team at Augusta Health. As a Staff Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Medication Management: Evaluate, prepare, and dispense medications in accordance with professional standards, facility procedures, and legal requirements.
- Supervision and Leadership: Supervise pharmacy technicians, technician trainees, and pharmacist interns, monitoring workflow and workload, and ensuring accuracy and quality in medication preparation and dispensing.
- Medication Distribution and Handling: Oversee the distribution and handling of controlled substances, including record keeping, documentation, accuracy, and resolution of medication discrepancies.
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Demonstrate knowledge of medications, including mechanism of action, routes of administration, and medication incompatibilities, and apply problem-solving skills to resolve medication therapy problems.
- Collaboration and Communication: Provide reliable drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers, and engage in training and education activities to promote medication safety and effective use.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in performance improvement activities, identifying and reporting adverse drug events, drug interactions, and medication errors, and contributing to the development of policies and procedures to enhance medication use systems.
- Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacist by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Skills and Qualities: Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
