Job Summary

The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in the healthcare team at Lifespan, providing exceptional patient care and administrative support. This dynamic individual will be responsible for managing patient data, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a smooth patient flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage and track patient telephone contacts, directing calls to the appropriate party and taking accurate messages.
  • Obtain patient registration information, complete patient registration forms, and schedule appointments to ensure an efficient flow of patients.
  • Obtain necessary authorization numbers and referrals, verify financial information, and maintain patient medical records.
  • Check patients in, ensure accurate demographic and insurance information, and collect co-payments.
  • Maintain patient flow in the waiting room, notify medical staff of patient arrival, and perform discharge functions.
  • Reconcile and batch encounter forms, maintain quality assurance, safety, and environmental standards, and protect patient confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Office Management or equivalent experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Two years of experience in a healthcare setting, with proficiency in English and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

The Patient Service Representative will work in an outpatient medical practice office environment, interacting with patients, office equipment, and healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will be able to minimize potential hazards by adhering to established safety procedures and precautions.
