Hennepin Healthcare is a comprehensive care system that encompasses a renowned Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center along with an acute care hospital.

This extensive healthcare network features a 484-bed academic medical center, a large outpatient clinic and specialty center, as well as a variety of primary and specialty care clinics located in urban and suburban areas.

We are currently in search of a Healthcare Practice Operations Manager to enhance our support for the Departments of Emergency Medicine, Pathology, Psychiatry, and Psychology.

This full-time role offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, allowing for remote work while also requiring regular on-site presence.

This position entails providing administrative and financial management services to a medical department, focusing on clinical, academic, and research initiatives.

As a member of the senior management team, you will oversee and guide other administrative staff within the department.

You may also take direct responsibility for a service line and facilitate communication between the medical department and various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and assess a business strategy, including performance enhancement initiatives, in collaboration with key medical group and hospital leaders.
  • Establish strategic and operational objectives for the department or service line, emphasizing personnel, care quality, patient experience, and financial stewardship.
  • Set and analyze metrics to track the progress of both short-term and long-term strategic and operational goals.
  • Prepare and oversee the department's operational and capital budgets.
  • Act as a catalyst for enhancing service delivery, efficiency, and quality, utilizing established LEAN principles in alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and lead initiatives aimed at achieving the operational, cultural, patient-centered, and financial objectives of the medical department.
  • Manage market-based performance metrics to benchmark patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
  • Engage with the department chief in marketing efforts to enhance the organization’s standing and to propose new or expanded programs.
  • Establish internal benchmarks for monitoring patient outcomes and care processes, ensuring adequate provider resources are available throughout all care stages.
  • Work alongside patient care directors, managers, and supervisors to guarantee optimal patient care and address operational challenges.
  • Develop and maintain systems for continuous analysis of key operational statistics, including productivity, clinical activity, and financial performance.
  • Build relationships with lead physicians and business administrators from community groups that refer patients.
  • Collaboratively address issues and concerns with relevant hospital departments.
  • Assist in the formulation and evaluation of interdisciplinary and interdepartmental policies and protocols.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of qualified physicians and healthcare professionals, ensuring optimal performance from providers.
  • Collaborate with the department chief on faculty salary processes.
  • Monitor and review contracts and grants with the department chief to ensure financial integrity and compliance with performance standards.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business management, finance, or a related field.
At least 8 years of professional experience in healthcare or a medical practice environment.
A minimum of 3 years in healthcare management and supervisory roles.
OR
An approved equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in healthcare administration, business management, finance, or a related field.

Leadership Skills:
Ability to effectively manage organizational resources, including budget and personnel.
Expertise in overseeing high-level departmental staff.
Exceptional capability to motivate employees and inspire positive change.
Innovative mindset with the ability to contribute new ideas that align with organizational goals.
Proficient in managerial responsibilities, including hiring, performance evaluations, and salary reviews.
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety through daily interactions within the department.
Ability to foster a positive workplace culture and build inclusive teams.
