This Corporate Risk Manager position leads and manages the development and execution of enterprise claims efforts. The successful candidate will work closely with risk owners in all departments to identify, measure, mitigate, and monitor risks that could impact department and enterprise objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and lead a streamlined incident and claim handling structure, including clear definition of roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities for internal leadership, third-party claims administrators, and insurance company claims handlers.
  • Work with site EHS/HR teams to gather information and investigate incidents to support site teams and third-party administrator claims examiners.
  • Ensure alignment of strategic and business practices with claims handling and action plans, including assisting in obtaining medical records, managing lost time, and coordinating return-to-work plans with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resolve claims within delegation of authority and make appropriate recommendations for management on higher-value claims, providing regular status reports and recommendations on larger claims to the supervisor.
  • Lead change by recognizing the importance of adaptation, setting goals for change, and leading purposeful adaptations to work that align with Generac's strategic vision.
  • Review and approve monthly claim reports, making reserve and settlement recommendations when appropriate.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and changes in insurance laws and regulations.
  • Establish tracking and reporting mechanisms and dashboards to measure incident and claim handling effectiveness and progress.
  • Manage the reporting of monthly incident and claim trends, developing data analytic dashboards to track performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience leading/managing workers' compensation lost-time indemnity claims and regulatory requirements.
  • 3 years of people management/leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Risk Management or a related field.
  • Insurance or Risk Management designations/certificates/credentials are preferred (e.g., AIC, CPCU, CWCP, WCS).
  • 6 years of experience in multi-lines claims handling (Auto Liability, General Liability, Property, and Workers' Compensation).
  • Experience in managing workers' compensation claims in monopolistic states.
  • Experience with Canadian workers' compensation laws.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage and execute the coordination of multiple projects within required timeframes and expectations.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, with the ability to inform both orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, data analytics systems (Power BI, Tableau), and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (Pareto analysis via pivot tables).
  • Able to perform detail-oriented tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to work at both a strategic and detailed level to ensure continuous improvement in claims management.
