Job Title: Director of Planning and Development

The Seminole Tribe of Florida is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Planning and Development to lead the Planning and Development Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing the operations and services provided by the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, direct, and oversee planning professionals in creating, coordinating, and implementing a Tribal comprehensive urban plan/master plan, amendments to the plan, project-specific site plans, land development plans, etc.
  • Lead in the development of the five-year capital improvement (CIP) plan; initiate and manage approved CIP projects through the planning, design, and construction phases of development.
  • Direct the activities of professional staff, including all areas of planning, inclusive of commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
  • Generate, implement, and administer the department's policies, objectives, and procedures; ensure the development of necessary programs or procedures for compiling and analyzing data to evaluate the potential cost/benefit of current and future development projects for the Tribal community.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with major coursework in Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a similarly related field is required.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of management and supervisory experience in planning and design is required.
  • Prior experience in dealing with Federal, State, County, and Local government agencies and officials is preferred.
  • Possession of at least one of the following certifications: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), American Planning Association (APA), or State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE), is required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency utilizing a wide variety of software packages, including Autocad, Microsoft Office, and databases.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and ability to travel locally/nationally and work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.
