Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Program Director of Donor Relations, Annual and Leadership Gifts to join our team at the University of Maryland. This role will lead the stewardship strategy and coordinate all donor relations efforts focused on annual gifts to the university.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual giving and lead donor stewardship initiatives to retain and engage donors.
  • Collaborate with the university's central pipeline development team to utilize giving data and employ stewardship initiatives that demonstrate impact, build community, and strengthen relationships with donors.
  • Serve as the strategic lead and point-person for development colleagues in each school and college to establish and manage a unified campus-wide annual donor stewardship program.
  • Plan and execute annual presidential donor relations events, including the Terrapin Loyal, Presidential Parents Leadership Brunch, and Maryland Women's Society event and meetings.
  • Manage impact communications for central and Presidential priority funds, such as the Maryland Promise Program, Keep Me Maryland Fund, Student Crisis Fund, Campus Pantry, and Maryland Women's Society Fund.
  • Conceptualize, execute, and enhance strategic annual giving donor recognition communications, donor anniversary outreach, and oversee campus-wide stewardship touchpoints for the university's annual giving events (Giving Day; Giving Tuesday).
  • Manage efforts to increase donor retention and offer cultivation opportunities through building out and expanding university-wide donor recognition programs focused on annual giving and leadership donors and manage their strategic communication and outreach efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in donor relations, events, annual giving, development, advancement communications, or related fields.
  • Ability to interact with donors and senior-level executives and administrators.
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead and execute effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to donors and the university.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under demanding deadlines.
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within higher education.
  • Front-line fundraising experience.
What We Offer

The University of Maryland offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, tuition remission, health, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, retirement benefits, family care, and more. Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No Visa sponsorship is offered for this position. Salary Range is $90,000 - $110,000. This position allows for a combination of in-person and telework days as approved by the supervisor. Guidance regarding hybrid work is subject to change at any time to align with operational or business needs.
