Position Overview:
As an Operating Room Surgical Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting surgical teams by ensuring a sterile environment and providing necessary assistance during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Surgical Support: Assist surgeons during various surgical procedures by anticipating their needs and providing the required instruments and supplies.
  • Sterile Field Maintenance: Establish and uphold a sterile field, ensuring all surgical tools and patient draping are correctly positioned.
  • Preparation of Supplies: Select and prepare the necessary equipment and supplies for each surgical operation, verifying their functionality.
  • Timely Task Completion: Ensure that routine and priority tasks are executed within the established time frames of the department.

Clerical Duties:
  • Perform general clerical tasks, including managing patient appointments and maintaining accurate electronic health records (EHR).
  • Document supply inventory and order new supplies as needed.

Safety Protocols:
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring the operating room is properly sanitized before and after procedures.
  • Inspect and calibrate equipment for optimal operation, documenting quality control results and reporting any issues.

Compliance and Confidentiality:
  • Uphold the confidentiality of all patient health information, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Deliver quality work in accordance with departmental standards and regulatory requirements to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Training: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or military training as a scrub technician.
  • Certification: BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of recent relevant experience in a surgical setting.

Skills and Knowledge:
Possess a general understanding of surgical instruments, procedures, and equipment. Ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions. Strong communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences. Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with a capacity to prioritize tasks effectively. Familiarity with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
