  • Ensure the department operates smoothly by managing supply distribution and conducting equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as required.
  • Comply with all relevant regulations and policies to safeguard patient privacy and enhance the quality of care.
  • May be tasked with specific procedures and training new staff within the department.
Job Responsibilities:
  • This role includes on-call duties with a response time of 20 minutes.
  • On-call duties may extend to overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Typically, the on-call requirement is one weekday and one weekend per month, subject to change.
  • Availability for holidays as needed.
Surgical Support:

• Assist in various surgical procedures, consistently identifying the needs of the surgical team to ensure high-quality patient care.

• Establish and uphold a sterile field, including the arrangement of sterile tables, tools, and patient draping.

• Select and prepare necessary supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure, verifying their operational status.

• Complete routine and priority tasks within established departmental timelines.

Administrative Duties:

• Perform clerical tasks such as answering phone calls, updating patient appointments, and managing electronic health records (EHR) documentation.

• Accurately document supply inventory and place orders for new supplies as necessary.

Safety Protocols:

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring the operating room is properly sanitized before and after procedures.

• Inspect and calibrate equipment for proper functionality, documenting quality control results and reporting any issues to management.

Compliance Standards:

• Uphold the confidentiality of all patient health information and protect it from unauthorized disclosure.

• Deliver quality work in accordance with departmental standards, policies, and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure optimal patient safety and care.

Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with surgical instruments, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve standard problems using established solutions.
  • Build collaborative relationships with colleagues and healthcare providers to meet departmental goals.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or military training as a scrub tech.
Certification:
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with EPIC and prior travel experience preferred.
  • On-call availability for one weeknight per week and one weekend (48 hours) per month, with holidays as assigned.
