Quality Inspector

Job Summary

The Quality Inspector will be responsible for inspecting products at various stages of the production process to ensure quality and reliability. This includes reading and interpreting engineering drawings, inspecting boilers and components, and quarantining nonconforming products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and other documentation to perform inspections.
  • Inspect boilers, sub-assemblies, kitted cartons, machine castings, and other components to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Quarantine nonconforming products and write nonconformance reports.
  • Assist with testing of components or completed boilers.
  • Assist with programming of controls.
  • Use various measuring equipment such as calipers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the Quality Inspector must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2+ years of quality inspection experience. ASME experience and/or boiler experience are a plus. The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. They will also have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talking or hearing. The employee may occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision and the ability to differentiate colors.

Work Environment

The work environment for this job includes regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
