POSITION OVERVIEW

The role of the Sheet Metal Mechanic is vital within EMCOR Government Services. This position requires adherence to all safety protocols and collaboration with team members on a daily basis. The Sheet Metal Mechanic will operate under the supervision of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager, depending on the job site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are essential to this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary:

  • Design and layout sheet metal components such as ducts and hangers.
  • Accurately measure and mark dimensions for installation in the field.
  • Drill holes for screws, bolts, or rivets as required.
  • Install sheet metal within a supportive framework.
  • Fabricate or modify parts on-site to meet specific requirements.
  • Create sketches for duct fittings.
  • Handle and secure large sheet metal ducts and components.
  • Connect joints of ductwork to form a complete heating, cooling, and ventilation system.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Enforce safety regulations consistently.
  • Provide guidance to fellow employees when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A High School Diploma or GED is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in HVAC sheet metal and installation.
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • OSHA 10 Certification is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints effectively.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with the construction industry and its documentation.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience operating forklifts and/or scissor lifts.
