Job Summary and Qualifications

The Graduate Nurse Transition Program at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital equips you with the necessary tools to thrive in today’s healthcare environment. This compensated program will facilitate your transition from academic learning to practical application through a structured series of educational experiences, including:

  • Advanced clinical training in a specialized area.
  • Monthly educational workshops.
  • Preceptorship training with an assigned facility preceptor.
  • Assessment and evaluation of skills through practical simulations.
  • Mentorship from experienced nursing leaders.
  • Collaborative work on an evidence-based practice project.

The RN Resident is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with departmental requirements and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In partnership with medical providers and other care team members, the RN Resident offers individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care utilizing established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN Resident acts as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Evaluating patient conditions upon admission and during each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Executing procedures, monitoring, or other functions as directed by medical providers. Documenting care administration in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
  • Administering prescribed medications and monitoring patients for therapeutic responses. Notifying providers and intervening as necessary in the event of adverse medication responses.
  • Delivering outstanding care by responding promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipating patient needs.
  • Educating patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring clear understanding of complex medical terminology.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within one year of employment.
  • Additional certifications may be required during employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Some travel may be necessary for training purposes.
