Academic Program Coordinator

The Academic Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in driving student impact, building strong school partnerships, and ensuring an exceptional AmeriCorps member experience. Reporting to the College Academy Program Director, this individual will be responsible for meeting organizational bottom-line goals in areas such as academic readiness, GPA, college eligibility, attendance, and student retention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement programs to improve student outcomes, including academic readiness, GPA, and college eligibility
- BUILD STRONG PARTNERSHIPS WITH SCHOOLS THROUGH REGULAR COMMUNICATION AND COORDINATION
- Oversee program data tracking through Salesforce and ensure accurate financial management at assigned sites
- Support fundraising activities and contribute to creating a culture of philanthropy within the organization
- Collaborate with supervisors to assign projects and responsibilities as needed
School Partnership:
- Maintain regular communication with school site stakeholders, including principals, assistant principals, teachers, and other staff members
- ADMINISTER AND OVERSEE STUDENT SITE COUNCILS AND PARENT SITE COUNCILS TO FOSTER COLLABORATION AND ENGAGEMENT
- Participate in school site meetings, events, and activities to build relationships and promote the organization's mission
AmeriCorps Member Experience:
- Provide weekly one-on-one coaching sessions to 5-10 full- and half-time AmeriCorps members serving as academic mentors, program assistants, and college advisors
- PARTICIPATE IN QUARTERLY LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO ENHANCE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Assist the AmeriCorps Director in meeting grant expectations and reporting requirements
Requirements:
- Candidates must believe in Improve Your Tomorrow, Inc.'s mission and values
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
- MINIMUM 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WORKING DIRECTLY WITH YOUNG MEN OF COLOR, PREFERABLY IN AN ACADEMIC SETTING
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and persuasively
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to action
Benefits:
- Full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $18.50-$28.00 per hour DOE
