POSITION SUMMARY
The role involves safely assembling and fitting together the necessary equipment and materials for constructing asphalt plants and associated components.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the position, and additional tasks may be assigned as needed.   • Contributes to the assembly of asphalt plant machinery and related components by safely and efficiently welding metal parts with a focus on quality.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in welding techniques using GMAW and FCAW processes.
  • Conducts inspections of metal surfaces prior to welding to ensure smoothness and quality, producing welds that require minimal post-processing.
  • Adjusts welding machine settings to suit the specific tasks being performed.
  • Understands and adheres to PPE requirements for welding, including the appropriate use of hoods, filter shades, and protective clothing.
  • Consistently follows established safety protocols and procedures.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends, as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory duties are associated with this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven ability and experience in safe and effective welding using GMAW and FCAW methods.
  • Capability to read and interpret welding symbols on technical drawings.
  • Experience in safely operating cranes and forklifts.
  • Must successfully pass a welding skills assessment.
  • Knowledge of fit-up techniques is essential.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to address practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists; capability to interpret a range of instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to risks of injury in a shop and warehouse environment as well as in asphalt plant settings. The employee frequently encounters moving mechanical parts and varying weather conditions. Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.
