Job Title: Shelter Supervisor

At Penobscot Community Health Center, we are seeking a compassionate and experienced Shelter Supervisor to lead our Shelter Navigator teams. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and promoting a positive environment for both guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead Shelter Navigators and other assigned staff daily, providing a model of positive, nurturing, and empathetic support for guests.
  • Assist in effectively managing and delegating the team's roles and responsibilities, promoting high functioning staff and championing efforts to seek continuous improvement of shelter metrics and goals.
  • Participate in the interview process to assist the leadership team in hiring the most qualified, competent, and mission-focused staff.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and promote a healthy and positive living environment for guests.
  • Oversee planning and implementation of recreational, cultural activities, and independent living skills program activities for guests.
  • Maintain constant awareness of the condition, cleanliness, and safety of the building, making appropriate and authorized improvements when needed and escalating to appropriate managers when more advanced attention is required.
  • Collaborate to ensure the safety and security of staff, guests, and tenants.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams on workflow changes, process improvement, and in delivery of mission-focused support and services for guests.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of experience in residential or community mental health agency, or equivalent work-related experience required.
  • Up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Health & Safety Institute, with the ability to obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and/or an appropriate length of driving experience for insurance purposes is required.
