Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Auto Claims Field Evaluator

The Auto Claims Field Evaluator will engage in specialized technical tasks related to assessing vehicle damage to create accurate damage estimates, identify unrelated prior damage, and evaluate total loss situations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess damaged vehicles to ascertain the extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical, or interior damage.
  • Calculate labor costs, determine parts usage (including OEM, Aftermarket, LKQ), and evaluate the feasibility of repair versus replacement based on automotive repair knowledge.
  • Review photographs and secure agreed price appraisals for all damaged assets, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Analyze the practicality of repairs and consider contract repair options against declaring a vehicle a total loss.
  • Identify and estimate unrelated prior damage based on the vehicle's physical characteristics, damage areas, and age of damage. Conduct prior damage assessments as necessary and report any inconsistencies observed during vehicle inspections and discussions with owners.
  • Evaluate cost-related expenses in relation to owner maintenance (e.g., betterment, depreciation).
  • Contact owners of non-drivable, damaged vehicles promptly to arrange inspections within a specified timeframe.
  • Submit completed appraisals through the designated estimating software.
  • Maintain a directory of specialty repair shops and parts suppliers.
  • Authorize repairs in accordance with current handling guidelines.
  • Relocate salvage vehicles with the owner's consent to the appropriate disposal site.
  • Manage Drive-in inspections as assigned.
  • Ensure that the correction rate on estimates remains at 5% or lower.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an outside appraiser or in a related field.
  • Proficient in writing agreed price appraisals across all business lines.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to utilize a computerized estimating system.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree, technical training, or substantial work experience in the field.
  • Familiarity with online claims systems.
  • Ongoing education in insurance practices.
