Position Overview:

As a Shift Equipment Engineer at Micron Technology, you will oversee, maintain, and enhance the performance of equipment and processes, collaborating closely with production teams and engineering personnel. Your responsibilities will include monitoring tool efficiency, conducting preventative maintenance on designated equipment, and employing mechanical, electronic, and software skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions. Additionally, you will assist in equipment installations, engineering evaluations, and the development of equipment procedures, aiming to maximize tool uptime through systematic problem-solving and quality workmanship.

Safety and quality are paramount in our operations. This entails completing necessary safety training and adhering to all safety regulations and policies. A commitment to a safe and high-quality work environment involves proactively identifying and addressing safety concerns, facilitating audits, and submitting reports on safety issues to minimize risks of injuries and environmental impacts. All tools must be operated and maintained according to established documentation and guidelines to meet safety and quality standards.
Collaboration & Communication:

To achieve operational excellence, effective collaboration across all departments is essential. This includes working alongside 1st Shift Engineers and Technicians to address daily tasks and extraordinary challenges that may lead to yield loss, defects, or operational restrictions. We engage with leadership to identify improvement opportunities and set personal performance and development objectives, enhancing overall performance and job satisfaction. Clear and concise written communication is vital to ensure that all updates and tool statuses are accurately documented, promoting efficiency and quality tracking.
Technical Expertise & Data Analysis:
  • Provide troubleshooting support for complex issues and identify root causes.
  • Deliver timely mentorship to resolve equipment challenges and actively participate in key problem-solving initiatives.
  • Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices, including metrics, health reports, and restoration guides.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop enhancements for hardware and software.
  • Identify optimal tools and align the rest of the equipment fleet accordingly.
  • Generate reports summarizing equipment availability, variability, and cost-saving initiatives.
Project Management & Planning:

Continuous improvement is integral to our daily operations at Micron. You will partner with equipment owners to design, prioritize, and execute projects, often leading initiatives to ensure that objectives are met within defined scope, timeline, and budget. Effective tracking of actions and providing solutions or resources will be crucial for successful project management.
Qualifications:
  • Understanding of AC/DC circuits and basic electronic components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for comprehending mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems and critical thinking related to these systems.
  • Ability to utilize schematic diagrams for troubleshooting at the component level.
  • Intermediate PC skills, including familiarity with MS Office and equipment management software.
  • Understanding of process flows and equipment expectations during operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of fabrication processes and related equipment.
  • Basic awareness of utility systems provided by Facilities.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles.
  • Comprehension of process control programs and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Capability to follow procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility in job responsibilities and shift assignments.
