Principal Engineer, Applications Engineering

Western Digital is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer, Applications Engineering to join our team. As a key member of our Applications Engineering group, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining advanced process control systems for our HAMR program.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement run-to-run control and fault detection systems for HAMR program manufacturing yield and quality improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new control strategies and recipes for automation.
- Perform data analysis to determine and optimize fault detection and classification models.
- Develop and maintain central recipe management systems and run/batch builder configurations.
- Integrate run-to-run control and fault detection systems with automation host software.
- Monitor and maintain run-to-run control and fault detection systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot system problems and software errors.
- Participate in system improvement roadmap planning.
- MS/PhD degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, Operations Research, or Statistics.
- Research or work experience with run-to-run control systems and fault detection in high-tech manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical and programming skills, with experience in statistical analysis and machine learning software.
- Familiarity with processing technologies and equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with project management experience.
