Job Title: Principal Equipment Engineer

Western Digital is seeking a highly skilled Principal Equipment Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our equipment engineering team, you will be responsible for the specification, project management, design review, and qualification testing of new tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Process Engineering, Maintenance, vendors, and other teams to define, improve, and monitor equipment reliability, throughput, and process capability.
  • Define, deploy, monitor, and improve the Preventive Maintenance specifications, EDCSPC on tool parameters, bill of material, and spare parts requirement.
  • Review, analyze, and investigate equipment-related scraps and provide root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Be the in-house technical equipment expert, providing hands-on technical support and troubleshooting skills to help bring the tool up efficiently and effectively upon down-tool escalations.
Requirements:
  • At least 8 years' experience with a B.S. or at least 6 years' experience with an M.S. degree in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering or physical science.
  • Demonstrate technical capability and positive results in Thin Film process equipment, and/or Wet processing equipment.
  • Experience in Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and quality-driven skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong project management, and people skills.
