Salary Range: $115,000 - $120,000

Overview

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is on the lookout for a motivated and highly capable professional to assume the role of Infrastructure Engineer II. This position is crucial for the engineering, design, and implementation of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications cabling and associated infrastructure within a Department of Defense (DoD) context.

The ideal candidate will bring a robust technical foundation in telecommunications infrastructure, demonstrating a track record of delivering exceptional results in demanding and mission-critical settings. Responsibilities will include evaluating project specifications, developing comprehensive design documentation, and supervising the installation and upkeep of resilient and secure cabling systems. Your expertise will play a vital role in enhancing the reliability and performance of the DoD's communication networks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and government regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of project requirements.
  • Create detailed engineering design plans.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of cabling systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an Infrastructure Engineer on comparable projects.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading Infrastructure Engineering efforts in a DoD environment.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing ISP and/or OSP cabling solutions.
  • Ability to develop and interpret engineering documentation.
  • Experience in certifying fiber and copper cabling systems.
  • Familiarity with data centers and server farm operations.
  • Knowledge of multi-level security solutions and compliance with ICD 705 requirements.
  • Understanding of ANSI, TIA/EIA, BICSI, IEEE standards relevant to OSI Layer 1 infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Possession of IAT/IAM Level II certification or higher.

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is required. Selected candidates will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

This role may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as well as the ability to type and read from a computer screen. Candidates must possess sufficient mobility to perform daily tasks efficiently, which may include lifting up to thirty pounds as necessary.
