The Senior Systems and Infrastructure Engineer plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the physical infrastructure within a leading data center environment. This position is essential for ensuring the highest levels of performance, reliability, and safety in the enterprise-critical settings of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Center Management: Oversee the daily operations of a 24/7 data center, focusing on power management, cooling systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Maintenance Leadership: Direct routine and complex maintenance tasks on critical data center systems, including HVAC, electrical, fire safety, and BMS.
- Operational Coordination: Facilitate major preventive maintenance and project activities by building strong relationships with key stakeholders across various data centers.
- Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with the data center manager to set and achieve long-term strategic goals and project objectives.
- Capacity Planning: Work closely with architects and engineers to assess and plan for infrastructure upgrades and expansions, ensuring alignment with business needs.
- Energy Efficiency Programs: Initiate and implement strategies aimed at reducing energy consumption and minimizing the carbon footprint of the data center.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to security policies and regulatory standards, including OSHA, NFPA, and EPA guidelines.
- Vendor Relations: Manage vendor partnerships, including contract negotiations and performance assessments.
- Budget Management: Develop and oversee the budget for data center facilities, encompassing both capital and operational expenditures.
- Project Leadership: Lead various data center projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution while meeting stakeholder expectations.
- Team Development: Foster collaborative relationships with peers and provide mentorship to junior engineers within the data center.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in data center facilities engineering, including 3 years in a senior or leadership capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data center technologies, including power, cooling, and building management systems.
- Strong grasp of data center design, implementation, and operational practices.
- Experience with enterprise-level applications such as Maximo, JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, and ServiceNow.
- Expertise in developing and executing Method of Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and Emergency Operating Procedures.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
