We are seeking a highly skilled Internal Control Manager to join our team at the State of Vermont. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of internal control and risk management principles, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive internal control framework to ensure the effective and efficient administration of tax dollars.
- Develop and maintain a risk management program to identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the Department.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with department, state, and federal policies.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the IRS and other external parties to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Investigate any alleged unauthorized disclosure of tax information and develop corrective action plans.
- Lead continuous improvements to internal controls and risk mitigation strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
- Three years or more of professional experience in accounting, auditing, compliance, fraud, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of internal control and audit frameworks.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Professional experience implementing and overseeing internal controls for a government or large, complex organization.
- Accreditation as a CPA, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, or equivalent.
